Buck stacked the deck against Matusz today

Is there some rule you have to rest EVERYBODY on Sunday? I realize Weiters needed a rest. But you also sit down hot hitting Reimold, your all star caliber hitting shortstop? All in one game?

Then, when Matusz leaves the game with some runners on base, of course your bring in your gasoline-on-the-fire piece-of-crap worst reliever to make sure those inherited runners score.

No, Matusz did not pitch great today, although it was better than his first start. He put way too many leadoff hitters on, and he was lucky to have only allowed 1 run through 5. But Buck didn't do him any favors with the lineup today or by relieving him with Gregg.

What difference does it make about the line-up? Matusz pitching poorly is his own fault. It isnot like matusz is going for his 20th win. here is a clue for matusz: make it through 7 innings and greggg won't be relieving you.

So you think it's a wise idea to rest a whole bunch of your best hitters all on the same day instead of spacing out their rest?

Well, you and I obviously disagree about how to manage a baseball team.

And no, Matusz wasn't great. But he had allowed 1 run in 5 innings before running into trouble in the 6th. Buck brought in his worst reliever in a high leverage situation: a 1 run game with 2 outs and 2 on in the 8th. Now it's an extremely low leverage situation, and he's using better relievers.

Once again, if that makes sense to you, then we have vastly different ideas about how to manage a baseball team.

Gregg is on the roster. He has to pitch sometime. It is good to get both gregg and matusz bad performance on same day so you only lose one game. Matusz gregg and reynolds shot not be on team. ...replace those 3 guys and your team improves.
